January 2008
Guild Meeting News - Carmel Crafts Guild New Meeting Location
We have a new meeting place for our Guild. January's meeting will be at St. Mary's Episcopal church in Pacific Grove.
It is at the corner of 12th and Central.
Ann will present Tips, Tricks, and Problem Solvers for the Handweaver with Sallie Guy.
Sallie points out many potential problems encountered in the weaving process, then offers a variety of practical, successful
solutions. Beginning with Planning & Preparation, includes tips on yarn and color, as well as planning rectangular shaped
garments, and how to adjust commercial patterns to the width of your handwoven fabric. Tips on dressing the loom, record keeping,
using a raddle, correcting threading errors, treadling, and shuttle tricks. Offering solutions to many common and not so common
problems that weavers will encounter sooner or later.

The Gift of the World
Simone Mortan shared her story, "The World" with members during the December meeting. She is a wonderful story
teller, and the imagery she evoked was beautiful. On behalf of everyone there, thank you, Simone.
2008 Membership Dues
Ann is still accepting your tax deductible membership dues. Please pay (individual-$20, family- $25) in person or mail
to Ann Pettit, c/o Carmel Crafts Guild, P.O. Box 32, Pacific Grove 93950.
Officers Slate for 2008
Laurie Simmons, our Nominating Committee of one, was unable to garner any volunteers for President and Secretary. During
the December meeting, the group agreed to have a revolving president, until such a time that one leader emerges. A sign-up
sheet was passed around, and the positions were mostly filled. You still have an opportunity to offer your services. Call
Laurie at 6253688.
Donation to CNCH
CNCH sent out a request for donations, and Carmel Crafts Guild responded. During the December meeting, we voted to send
$25.00.
