February 2008
New Meeting Location
We have a new meeting place for our Guild. February's meeting will be at Monterey Public Library, 625 Pacific Street,
across from the fire station.
February 14 Meeting
Susan Bradshaw will show us a way to recycle old calendars. Bring in any old calendar and a pair of sharp scissors to
the February meeting.
March 13 Meeting
Simone will show us how to needle felt. She will bring some dyed wool and will provide some tools. She has a limited selection
of colors, and probably won't have enough for everyone to work at once. Here are supplies needed:
1. Felting needle(s) (These are available in a holder, or you can buy replacement needles for less money and use them
individually.)
2. Dyed wool (Preferably carded wools, if not carded Simone will bring her hand carders.)
3. Foam pad or large sponge to work on, or a brush like felting pad
Felting needles and small brush like felting pads can be purchased at your favorite yarn or craft store. Some vendors
sell 4" thick foam rubber by the foot. A 12" square piece is ideal. For small projects, I think a THICK foam kitchen
sponge will work. The main thing is you need something at least 2-3" thick so your felting needle doesn't go all the
way through and get broken by hitting
the table. Be sure if you buy a sponge that it's foam, and not the stiffer cellulose type, which would be too stiff to
work well.
Guild Library News
Our library catalogue is going online. Pat and Jan finished cataloguing all the books in the Guild Library, and soon the
list will be published. Stay tuned.

Volunteer Opportunities
Sally Griffin Loom Project
The project continues. Patricia McDowell, Linda Millerick and Merrie have started the weaving lessons at the Sally Griffin
Center. They have one student so far, and more are awaiting loom time to start their projects. We're hoping to get more of
our local friends interested in weaving. So far, we have reserved M-W-F from 10-12:00 to be there to teach. Feel free to
stop by the Center to weave an inch or two!
CNCH 2008
Merrie is looking for volunteers to help with our part of this event. She needs help with developing the concept of the
booth, ideas for booth layout, and, of course, donations will be gratefully accepted.
