May 8, 2008
The May program is a field trip to the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles. The exhibit, "Core Memory/Peripheral
Visions," demonstrates how eight contemporary artists working with digital Jacquard weaving techniques have harnessed
technology to create visually-compelling and emotionally-moving works. Both textured and tactile, these works explore a range
of themes from personal and political statements to abstraction and the grand beauty of nature.
The exhibit fits nicely with the theme of our Area 1: Computer Aided Design in Weaving booth at CINCH08.
