OCTOBER NIGHT MEETING
The night meeting will be at Ann Pettit's mom's home on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The topic for discussion is
warping with a paddle. Please bring your paddles and be prepared to show what they do. Also, there might be time for an "embellishathon"
for those who need to work on pillows for the Homecrafters' Marketplace.

very generously shared his looms, his braids, and his knowledge; his clear instructions and his enthusiasm and love for this

HOMECRAFTERS MARKETPLACE
This year's sale will again be in downtown Carmel on Saturday, November 18 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Susan Bradshaw, Mary Lou Hanley, Berta Jones, Ann Pettit, Pat Rosberg, and Nancy Trissel will be selling their work.
CCG will have a table with goods for sale. Included are pillows surged by Joan Williams using fabric woven at the 2005 Monterey
County Fair. Those of you who are embellishing pillows can bring the finished work to one of our meetings or drop them off
at Jan Thoele's house by Nov. 15th.
DECEMBER POTLUCK/EXCHANGE
The Christmas Exchange will be at our day meeting on December 14. The gift exchange this year is a bag/purse-any size, shape,
material, design that strikes your fancy. Use your imagination and creativity. The exchange will be at our usual meeting place,
Buzzard's Backyard BBQ.
NATURAL DYE INTENSIVE
Randy Chelsea, a member of Santa Cruz Handweavers Guild, is offering a Natural Dyeing Intensive on Sun., Oct. 22 from 10 -
1. Participants will be able to dye their skeins red, blue and yellow, and then overdye, creating orange, purple and green.
The class will include the construction of an indigo vat. Each attendee will receive a spiral bound book including the recipes
used, a materials list, resources and more. Cost is $60 plus $15 materials fee. RSVP and directions: Randy Chelsey, 423-5751,

MOCO FAIR REPORT
Thanks to those of you who exhibited at this year's Monterey County Fair. Congratulations to award winners: Ann Petitt received
Best of Show in Home Arts. Susan Bradshaw's "Aspen" received 2nd place and her"Waves" received Honorable Mention in Visual
Arts. Mary Lou Hanley received 1st place in Home Arts Weaving and Spinning and 2nd and 3rd places in Visual Arts for her scarves.
Jan Thoele received 1st place in Home Arts for her krokbragd rug.
Linda Millerick had 13 entries in spinning and 7 in weaving in the Handspun-Handwoven Division. She received four 1st places
in spinning and a 1st place for controlled loom weaving. Brittny Sattler got Best of Section for her 2-ply homegrown mohair
and the Carol Fontana Award for Best Junior Handspinning. She also received three 1st places for handspinning entries. Linda
and Brittny received numerous other awards. Congratulations to all of you.
If you exhibited in the fair, please bring your work to our meetings so we can all enjoy it. For those of you not mentioned
here (and I know there are many), please let me know how your work was honored and I'll mention it in future newsletters.
THE FARM DAY EXPERIENCE
Mark Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 on your schedule now! The Monterey Fairgrounds will be the first venue for the 2006-2007 FARM
DAY EXPERIENCE. It's an opportunity for the ag community to reach out to those who don't understand how their plates are filled!

Of the Earth: Glass, Wood, Fiber, Clay, Metal & Stone runs from Dec. 2, 2006 - Jan. 11, 2007. The exhbition is open to all
Califrnia artists working in these mediums.
Juror Carol Sauvion, is a ceramist and the founder/owner of Freehand Craft Gallery in L.A. She is the originator, executive
director & co-executive producer of a multimedia project Craft in America which includes the PBS documentary series Craft
in America to be aired nationally in 2007. The intention of the series is to celebrate craft by honoring the artists who create
in it. In addition to the PBS series, the project includes a traveling exhibitand a companion book, educational DVD and a
website.
Sauvion has juried numerous exhibitions including the 2006 Smithsonian Craft Show, at the National Building Museum in Washington,
D.C., which is the nation's most prestigious juried exibition and sale of contemporary American crafts.
Entry Deadline is Sun. Oct. 29, 2006.
Awards: $500, $300, $200, and $100 plus the infamous eye-opener statue.
Entry fees are $10 per entry for members and $12 per entry for nonmembers.
Volunteer hours (in the gallery or online) are accepted in lieu of entry fees but must be completed prior to notification
